Jim:
After a very successful implementation, I am pleased to write a letter of
reference for the MPM
II package and Software PM.
MPM
II has worked very well for us. Our manufacturing operation is somewhat
unique, yet we were able to tailor and customize MPM
II quite easily. This
was due to several features of MPM
II including:
- Intuitive file structure
- Straightforward program flow and logic
- Standardization of file and field names
- CL "compartmentalization" (take a piece out, put a piece in)
These features allowed us to implement MPM
II relatively quickly.
We were able to tailor it to achieve several significant improvements
and savings in our operation. For example, we already had a basic
bar-code tracking system in place for real-time monitoring of the
progress and status of orders in our factory (50,000+ orders per year).
We were able to quite easily tie this existing system into the material
and labor posting/reporting modules of MPM
II to automatically backflush
these resources based on a routing sequence. The result was real-time
material and labor reporting "for free." We went from days
of lag time to instantaneous reporting, while at the same time driving
data entry costs to zero. Moreover, this then enabled accurate, timely
cycle counts, real-time reporting to remote sales offices, and immediate
status reporting on the web to our salespeople.
Numerous other applications and integrations of MPM
II with our existing
systems have helped return a remarkable ROI on our investment in MPM
II
(which we continue to enjoy!). The package is very cost effective compared
to much larger packages, yet it had all the basic features we needed.
I would certainly recommend MPM
II
to small and medium manufacturers looking for a package than can tailor for
their needs.

Dear Jim:
Per your invitation, I'm happy to now serve as a satisfied user reference for your
Manufacturing PM II software package. As a Honda Corporation supplier, I am particularly
pleased we were able to purchase a simple, practical manufacturing package with source
code, for such a low price. As part of a "big corporation" image, we're usually only
solicited by large software vendors with big price tags. Yours was very refreshing!
Manufacturing PM II has been easy and efficient to bring up and learn. Your simple
and well-documented RPG source code has allowed us to modify it to our very unique
needs. Manufacturing PM II needed to "fit" into and interface with a corporate IS
structure for us - it did. And, as you know, Jim, we have accomplished this
implementation with virtually no assistance from Software PM---we didn't need it.
My hat's off to Manufacturing PM II's simple design and intuitive feel. It's just
a very friendly and practical solution for any size manufacturer!
In fact, I'm encouraging other Honda suppliers/divisions to consider your package.
That's the best compliment of all that I can offer you. Thanks for Manufacturing
PM II, Jim! I'd buy it again, in a minute! Take care.
Sincerely,

Jack Ramsden

Dear Jim,
I am happy to provide you with a very positive user reference for your
Manufacturing PM II (MPM II) software. Our company used MPM II for
10 years; as the company grew from $5 to $35 million in annual sales.
We feel MPM II lived up to Software PM's philosophy and promise of being
a very cost effective and practical "foundation MRP II closed-loop
software package". Delta modified MPM II (especially in order entry)
to fit business needs easily and effectively. Having the source code was
essential. MPM II is a manageable package for smaller manufacturers,
who potentially will achieve a high payback for its modest cost. Delta
certainly obtained excellent benefits from MPM II, for its investment.
Thank you, also, for your company's fine support to us when we recently
needed some technical assistance to implement additional applications
(because of our growth) which we had not initially implemented. This
was especially appreciated considering that we had purchased the software
through one of your dealers about ten years ago and our software was not
the latest version! We wish Software PM continued success and growth.
Sincerely,

Kirk Prather

Dear Jim:
I feel this letter is long overdue. Now that I am about to review your
latest version of Manufacturing PM II (MPM II) for the IBM AS/400 at
Charleswood, my new employer: I wanted to provide Software PM with this
personal reference letter for your MPM II software.
I sincerely believe that MPM II is the most practical MRP/ERP software
application for almost any size manufacturing business. I've purchased
it, worked with it, implemented it, trained employees on it, modified it
and benefitted from MPM II's results for several years, as the former MIS
Director for St. Clair Die Casting of St. Clair, Missouri. It's been the
best, Jim. MPM II puts its feature/function focus back on the basic, most
dramatic pay back business areas for any manufacturer - and gets the job
done very efficiently. Its simple RPG source code, design and compact size
allowed me to 'tailor' MPM II to the real uniquenesses I was charged to
address with a software solution. The result - very happy users, a very
happy MIS Director (me), and very happy management! Just look at one of
the most 'bottom line' St. Clair 'pay back' results:
Prior to implementing MPM II we had a 20% inventory accuracy rate. After
only three (3) weeks of implementing MPM II's cycle counting this rate improved
to 94.84%! Our finished goods inventory improved dramatically, and our outside
vendor inventory is now at 99% accuracy. And, it goes on from there!
I guess my only constructive criticism, Jim, for Software PM, is that you don't
charge enough for MPM II! I know you focus on small manufacturers, but the value
of MPM II is so much more than I could even describe here. Simply put, MPM II
does what MRP software was designed to do
30 years ago
to truly
help a manufacturer operate his business more efficiently, more productively,
and more profitably. It is a pleasure to serve as a reference to anyone who
wishes to read this letter and/or call me. You guys at Software PM deserve
all the industry recognition you're achieving. Thanks for everything, Jim,
and thanks also to your staff.
Sincerely,

Daniel Obermark

Dear Jim:
I thought I would write to you to let you know about the MPM II system
we have been using for some years.
We have had this system in use since the early 90's, and its major focus was in
the management of our factory and production facilities. As such we had
employed MPM into our environment, operating on an AS400 system. The plant
produced some 150 different products, and MRP was particularly important for
planning long lead-time product, much of which had to be planned 6 months in
advance.
When we initially chose the system, the cost of the software was
Important to us, as we were replacing
software already installed, and there was reluctance to make a change. Not only
was the solution cost effective, but also included source code, which made
tailoring of the system easy for us. This has also been beneficial in local
support and self help.
Another important area for
us has been the costing activity, and to this end we found the system very
useable, and easy to modify to perform cost modeling activities. The inventory
system was also very easy to work with, and gave us excellent controls over the
complete manufacturing and planning environment.
Jim, I would have to say
that many people who saw the system in operation thought that it was a little
simple. I agree!
Simple to use, simple to
manage, and simple to get good results! A truly excellent product which has
performed reliably over a long period for us. In the nearly 10 years we have
used it, we suffered no faults or problems of a major nature at all, and our
own staff were able to support it easily in the rare event that support was
required.
Thank you for your
continued support over the years. Your attitude to your customers, and your
willingness to support and assist us demonstrates the after sales care one
would hope that all software suppliers would provide!
Yours Sincerely,
